FS: @eBay - Interesting 66 w/ solex engine, slate grey, not mine, no reserve

looks interesting..., not mine. I've bought a car from them in the past, and the deal worked out just fine. It's from Rudy Klein's place.

I've been there a few times - it's nearby. The cars are not protected and have deteriorated badly over the years. At one time there were three 300SL gullwings and they were just stacked on top of each other. At least the gullwings were inside. Second generation is operating it now, and there are no 'new' european cars being added to the yard. Auction bid prices on wrecked Porsches and Mercedes being too high.

I've never seen a car put up with no reserve before. Only a couple hours until we see the final bid, but if I were doing an auction, I'm not sure I'd time it to end on Thanksgiving...

Thanks for the heads up Herr Eminence!

I knew Rudy and he was the Pioneer when it came to buying old car junk....he was not like "Charlie Tuna"....Rudy had taste!! Its too bad he did not live to see what his old cars are worth today...I'm going to take a shot at the 65....can't be many Slate 65's around....and it seems to be mostly there. If I get it, I will see if they have the lights and tune the bitch up and drive it!!

You could easily double that price to restore it. Could a restored 66' (Solex car) even bring 150k? Great color!

I think even that's conservative for a restoration.

    And... yes, it could.
