What was the original finish on the Bosch CDi?

Most all the CD units I've seen are gray - medium to darker. I'm wondering, since the ones i'm looking at are 40+ years old, if I'm seeing surface oxidation. Any photos showing an uncovered electrical panel from 70-77?

Thanks. Thinking a very mild medium blast (walnut?) may bring back the proper color. Doing a restoration.
