    Question for the Engine Gurus

Is this repairable (see pic below) in any way or is this engine toast? I'm sure it also depends on what's going on inside but is the crack repairable?

    It's a '70 "E" engine, worth saving?

    Thanks!

Unless the matching chassis is still around it would be cost prohibitive to save.

And even in the matching car would be hideous looking after the repair. Would resemble a Civil War battlefield scar.

    wow, what a stress relief - -
    how comes?

any ultrasound or x ray for ndt around? if the crack is not complete trough the material . . you can work on it,
but as the engine case material is some today forbidden mixture of what ever . . .

I'd just keep it with the car. You never see that for some reason.

Does oil stay in this engine? It looks like it should run out pretty quick.

Don't know if it holds oil or not...this is a "barn find" car ('66 911) that I am restoring and am just looking to possibly use this engine until I find a more suitable aluminum case engine closer to the original.

Any SWB 2.0 aluminum engines for sale out there?

There was a famous lawsuit regarding a Ferrari with a repaired engine block a few years back: Only in America by Michael Sheehan.
