    Undercoating for 72T

I am getting to the point of need to figure out the undercoating for my 72T. I have been searching and reading threads for days and still dont have a great idea of what product to use. From what I have gathered Wurth underbody seal in Beige is the correct thing for the underbody, wheel wells, engine bay and front compartment. Since beige is not available what is the current choice. I have also read about Upol Gravitex, how does this compare to the Wurth Underbody seal. Thanks

Use the Wurth SKS . Porsche used grey or beige . Grey is available from the UK and can be tinted for a better match . You can use black and paint it a loss gloss beige . For a '72 the wheel wells and eng. compartment are painted black anyway . The floor bottom and transmission tunnel area will be the only places you should see the undercoating color through some light overspray . I think it is difficult to reproduce the original texture with the Upol Gravitex .

It takes a while to master to spray gun and how to get it to match the thickness of the original coating. Adjust the valves on it and practice on some plywood or something. It's better to go with a heavy coat then multiple light coats if going for original. At the factory I swear they must have used a damn fire hose to put that stuff on. I've had no luck getting the grey so I use the black and then paint over it body color like the factory did and then go over the body color with black paint so later as the black fades you'll see the body color come through just like you do on original cars.

Use the Upol Gravitex undercoating. Same as Wurth and available in gray color.

Since Nick's car is a Hot Rod I did a Medium coat. Not as thick as factory. All the original cars I've torn down where they weren't painted over had a beige color not grey.
