Reinvigorating an old thread rather than starting a new one. Instead of referencing old cars thought unmolested this is an example of a model year 73 car when brand new.

I happened to trip over the shot showing the front slam panel when looking for something.

I don't know its production number or vin. The car has the 69 70 71 Weltmeister sticker on the rear window in another shot and that sticker changed to the Can am & Interserie decal starting from around 2 March 1973. Its presence suggesting the car was made before then. It is definitely model year 73 car being a RHD Targa that was only introduced for that model year only for UK Aus etc -- so after the shutdown and for model year 73 lineup change.

Cars like this having been pictured brand new obviously eliminate the "I think it is unmolested for best part of five decades" and helps much more than restored examples to illustrate originality to factory spec at that time.

So having stumbled across the photo thought it worth sharing on this thread.... even if what is shows is not new news. Yes maybe inventory were being consumed etc resulting in some mixing but demonstrates what was on model year 73.

My own car was produced 12/72 and also a one year only model 73 car RHD car according to production order but I haven't owned it since then and wouldn't be foolish enough to pretend I know for certain it has never had that panel changed although talking each POs no such evidence of front damage to that particular panel emerged. It has the same as pictured.

Posted photo for what it's worth as a reference to a new car from slam on model 73 before I file the source away again. Hopefully a new car pictured in 73 meets Frank's "self circumcision" advice.
