    1970 S - rear brake pad question

I would appreciate hearing thoughts on the importance - or not - of the vertical slot in brake pads. PMB send me a rear set that does not have the vertical slot, and for like applications, I've only seen ones with it. PMB says it is the correct for the application, but those coming off the car had the slots as does my 73. P.S. old and new pads are both ATE. Thank you all

are you concerned about their efficacy or the aesthetics?
I guarantee you will not feel the difference.

Yes, the efficacy thing only. I just assumed - perhaps incorrectly - that this slot has a purpose and I am accustomed to seeing it in other applications. Thank you.

I think at one time, it was thought that the slot helped keep the pad clean by giving a sort of vent slot for dust. With the newer pad materials it may no longer be necessary. Or maybe its just cheaper to manufacture.
I've always used the Textars on my car and haven't noticed a change in performance.
