I need to repair my original wood rim wheel so I'm replacing it with a Momo. I had the post 74 hub (2031) which was clearly wrong with the splined shaft too short. I have the right one now (2030)

BUT when you fit it, I put the big Spring on around the splined male bit and tighten up the big bolt it's tight but the steering shaft is not secure, it's moving about. It's not right.

The only thing that I can see as being different is on the back of the old wheel there is a raised thin circle of steel I guess that is about 8mm high and less than 1mm thick whereas the Momo hub is about 3mm high and a bit over 1mm thick.

Have I missed something ??? Why the hell isnt it working ??

I've been out and had another look. The hub seems to fit millimetrically perfect to the housing on the car. But I wonder if it's something to do with this raised "collar" that's missing on the Momo. But surely to god I can't be the only person to have this problem with a Momo in a Swb ?
