Thread: What's unique about '66 front fenders?

What's unique about '66 front fenders?

I am restoring a '66 911 and am weighing the decision as to replacing or repairing the front fenders. ??? Thoughts?
I've seen posts talking about unique characteristics or '67 and '68 fenders but what about '66'es?

What are the best replacement options for new / repro's?

    Thanks much?

thick lip inside the wheel well and no tabs inside the headlight buckets. If it's a very early 66MY (produced in late '65) it might have 4 screw horn grills.

Left and rights are available from porsche classic through stoddard in this case, but probably available elsewhere.

Does anyone know if the new replacement fenders have the thick lip inside the wheel well?

If I replace the fenders with new ones will it de-value the car to any degree?

I have pair in garage so I can check in few days. IMO has to be really die-hard buyer who would devaluate for that reason, especially vs repaired old ones.

fenders, doors, and lids were stamped with the last three vin digits, so that is where the value of original metal comes from.

Where to find original style f & r fenders for a late '66 built, '67 model year 911S now fitted with flared fenders?
Until when the last three digits of the vin were stamped on doors, fenders and rear lid?
    Thanks,
