Lightbulb W: 1973 Porsche 911 T Targa - by enthusiast for own use

I am looking to buy an unmolested, honest 1973 Porsche 911T Targa. A perfect car for me would be:

    • Drivable, roadworthy condition (no barn find or basket case)
    • Little/no rust
    • Unmolested (no steel flares, slant nose conversion, V8 transplant, etc). That said, any reversible mods or incorrect parts are totally fine – and to be expected for a 40+ year old car.
    • No Concourse material. Would I like to show off my car at next years’ concours d’elegance? Sure, but I won’t raid my kids’ college funds for this.

Why 1973? That’s the year I was born, and this is how I ‘sold’ the idea to my wife to adopt a longhood Porsche… I’d consider both CIS and MFI.

A little bit about myself: I used to own a wonderful 1973.5T Targa in original condition. Not a show queen by any means, but a very presentable driver in stunning gemini blue metallic (look for my older posts with pictures of the car). Owned it for a few years and then got so busy with work and two little girls at home that I decided to sell it. Oh boy am I regretting this now.

So, here I am, attempting to make up for my mistake and getting back behind the wheel of a Longhood.

    Hi kp,
I did as you suggested and searched for your earlier posts here and could not find a post or thread on the earlier car you owned. I only found a similar WTB ad from you in 2011 here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...1973-5-T-Targa

Maybe you can point us to the thread that has your previous car on it.

Hi Mike, happy to! Here's one:

Also, here's a pic of my old car:

It was back in 2011 when I first looked for a Longhood (thus the old WTB you found). I was on the hunt for about 6 months before I bought the gemini blue 73.5T in May 2012.

How could you let that one go? Well I did the same thing in 2006 I sold my '73 Targa, but came to my senses in 2010 just it time and acquired a '71 Targa in Bahia Red.

You're not helping, Mike... rubbing salt into my wound Just kidding, "71 TRGA" looks stunning. Here's hope that the stars will align and I get my second chance. Resistance is futile!
Currently in between Porsches. Sold my 73.5T Targa, now suffering from serious withdrawal symptoms. Attending Rennsport Reunion VI didn't really help getting over it.

I actually did, and it doesn't look bad at all for that price. Thanks! It would check pretty much all of my boxes, except for the year. Really looking for a 73...

Did you see the one that's on ebay right now? 9113111373 - Tangerine 73.5T in Canada, sold for US$27,800. Parked since 1990...

I think I saw a nice one out there a few weeks ago - not concours but a good solid driver for a bit less than $200k - I will see if I can find the book mark and post it for you

Typo, or trying to be funny? If a typo then I'd certainly be interested. PM would be fine!

This one looks good but you would have to let your OCD regarding the date you were born go away...
