    A bicycle inner tube cut and reversed is a very close replica of the original.

    All of the SWB and LWB cars with unmolested tunnel areas I have worked on had a thin walled rubber sheathing as in your photo...However the sheathing was fitted OVER the metal nipple and secured with a white tie wrap as found in tunnels and on the orange foam defogger hose. McMaster Carr has a virtual exact thin wall rubber tubing/sheathing that I have used. The tie wraps are generic.

    I agree with Mark. Not a separate piece, but rather the outside sheathing pulled over the stub.

    You might want to look into cleaning the stud on the right side of the pic, as this is for the engine ground.

    I use an accelerator rod / coupling boot with the end trimmed, A factory part and fits nicely.

    IIRC the rubber sheath was about 1 meter long on my 72.
    Secured with 1 ziptie at the bulkhead.
