    917 silk scarf help

    These silk scarves are iconic.

I have collected these over the years and it took quite some time to acquire all 5 versions with tabs and in immaculate condition.

I have various colour versions in varying condition which I am happy to keep and possibly frame if wall space becomes available, (my wife say's NO)

ESR is a fantastic site but may not be the BEST platform to sell this complete immaculate set of these 917 Silk Scarves on so I ask our Members,

Where / What would be the best manner to put these to market ?

    Many thanks in advance.

Probably at auction where they could be marketed by the auction house? Just a thought.

Thanks for your thoughts Pete but in the most bluntness of honesty I would prefer other paying Members responses rather than the Moderators

Wow... finding all five is quite a feat, Mark. An automobilia specialist would love to sell those for you for a fee... maybe BaT would be interested? They sell wheels and engines, so why not?

The one I don't have is turquoise/green, would you consider letting that go?

Honestly Bat MIGHT be interested, I'd reach out to them. They've been running other memorabilia auctions in the past year though I'm not in a position to determine if those went above, below or on-market.

Much more interesting than Ferrari luggage.

I gotta believe your biggest target market is right here on ESR and/or Pelican.
If you want to play with auctions I would suggest BAT or PCARMARKET.
    Finally eBay.

May want to try Rennlist.com/Marketplace. They are a Porsche enthusiast site and move a lot of high-end Porsche cars, parts, luxury items, etc.

Have you checked out the 'views' statistics on Porsche auctions on BAT? Blows ESR viewership out of the water and memorabilia like the scarfs easily transcend early car nuts like ourselves. There's multiple segments of Porsche ownership that don't frequent ESR or the Bird.. IF the seller doesn't like the reserve, no one is forcing them to list.

I'd say it's easily worth the conversation. Might be a bit of a struggle getting them to listen to the more knowledgeable in setting the reserve since they wouldn't have sales history to lean on.

Unless there's some sort of interesting discussion or contention in a 'for sale' ad on ESR, the average viewership is probably in the ball park of 300-400 over the span of weeks. Easily an order of magnitude more on BAT I'd wager over the course of 3 days.

    Thanks Michael and everyone else,
I have tried to source purchasing 917 scarves on ESR and even tried to 'swap' them in order to get the full set just as Russ has been for some time. This gave me the impression that ESR may not be the best place to sell these.
Dont get me wrong, I am aware that there would be interested parties on ESR but as Michael states the viewer numbers do not compare to those of BAT and the like, however this is to be expected with a boutique site like ESR.
Here down in little old New Zealand we just dont have platforms like BAT and PCARMarket to sell on. I dont know if USA platforms will even allow non US people to sell on their sites.
I have looked at BAT but I can only see "list my car' (or similar) so I will try and correspond with them and see what pans out.
Once again many thanks for the input.

Very cool. Out of curiosity, for someone not in the know (me), what's a set like this worth (ballpark)?
