500673 does actually say catacolor rear window, lol. bumper guards with rubber strip front and rear, tinted windshield, left rear view mirror. Sold new to Tampa. They probably meant tinted side windows.

My '67 Targa Kardex used the word Turverglasung after catacoler for the door windows. Designated catacoler windshield also. Seemed pretty accurate in their Kardex descriptions. Not so much in their COA's. The remaining pics that I have of this car.
Photos don't show any leftover soft window elements. Pretty late in production run so maybe an experiment by factory? Although Harvey Weidman commented in some thread that while working at dealership in '68-'69 era conversions were quite common at dealership
In June the first LWB 1969’s made?
Here's the info on rear lids with center bars. They disappeared in mid-November 1967.

Whew!
Lids with bars have provision for the rear wiper shaft on the left side only from at least the beginning of the 1967 model year, when the position of the shaft opening moved to a lower position. Rear wipers were optional from October 1965 or thereabouts -- will post a photo of this earliest style when I receive one. Lids without bars have wiper shaft holes on both sides. Sorry, if everybody knew this already.

Here's 310001S, a 67 delivered to the testing department in April 67. The elephant hide interior looks to be a prototype version with a different door pocket design. This car was also found with converted to LWB, but the jury is out on whether or not that was done at the factory.

Sorry, I'm still hung up on rear lids. The tab under the wiper hole is truncated on early Porsche-bodied cars through at least October 1968 -- meaning all 1968 model year cars with no center bar and into the 1969 model year (black lid). By July 1969 they look like the one on the silver 1971 car above -- need more data points -- but this thread is about 1968. So here is the 1968 hook -- the green car is an original owner (original paint!) Karmann 912 from April 1968, which has the long tab. So, did all bar-less Karmann built 1968 rear lids look like this? Or were they cut off on earlier cars. Bars went away mid-November 1967 in case you forgot.
Okay, I'm over rear lids. It appears to be a 1970 model year change.
Now front bumper guards. The change from an all metal guard with a slot at the top to one with black plastic piece on the upper rear is an early 1968 MY change. The earliest one I have a photo of with the plastic piece is a Targa with an invoice date of 9/4/67. These don't tend to show up in photos, but should certainly be easy to determine.
By the way, CoAs on early 911/912s that say build date are actually using the Kardex field for invoice date.
Anyway, here are the two bumper guard styles. If those with early 1968 MY cars can let me know. Invoice date is important, but if you don't have it, I can get it from the chassis number. If you prefer to contact me privately, I am at: 356drb@indy.net
Brett,
My 12/28/67 completed German market 911L targa doesn’t have the black plastic on the back of the bumper guards. The rubber padded bumper guards are on the Kardex. I don’t know if the ones on the car are original to the car or not.

The date of first use for the 1968 Rallye Monte Carlo Winner decals is thought to be February 1968. The summary on post #1 has been updated.
Here is more info and a link to reproductions.

I have updated the book text with that additional information. Regrettably, it will not be in the first printing, now at the printer. Books expected 4-5 weeks.
