    Hi,

Wasn't this actual radio set as pictured actually manufactured around 1975-6, being a G prefix serial number? IIRC it is the letter-prefix of unique serial number that gives the actual unit's date period of manufacture, not the model-type number. The all numeric model-type number potentially spans multiple years model is in production, year of introduction until model-type is superseded. Pretty sure that is how it works? Can be confusing as oftentimes the fourth digit ( in this case 2) is used to derive the date - not always accurate.

Nice touch that your set comes with mounting clips - these often go missing.

HTH. Good luck with the sale.

    Congratulations on the quick sale.

    See the following section ....
    "Blaupunkt Radio Series by Year.
You can tell when your radio was manufactured by looking at the serial number, which is printed on a paper tag attached to the side of the radio. Blaupunkt serial numbers begin with a letter, and it is this letter which tells you the actual year of manufacture.

    ....

Another way of dating a Blaupunkt radios is by looking at is model number. The forth number from the left in the Model Number will tell the first year that model Blaupunkt radio was manufactured. It is key to understand that the number will reveal the "first" year of manufacture, but not the actual year of manufacture. Certain model Blaupunkt Radios were made for more than one year and bear the same model number. The distinction would be determined by the letter preceding the serial number is described in the prior section. For example, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with model number 7 639 670 was first manufactured in 1969 with the letter in the serial number being an "A". That same radio with the same model number was made in 1970/71 with a "B" preceding the serial number, and again in 1971/1972 with a "C" preceding the serial number."

In this particular case, the Blaupunkt model-type 7632 641210 was first introduced for 1972 (hence the potentially confusing 2 in fourth digit in the all numerical model-type number) but since that model-type continued to be produced for a number of years actual example of that model-type with a G prefix to serial number was actually manufactured around 1975-6.

A 72/3 produced example of this model would probably have a D (or maybe late C or early E) prefix to its serial number.

So what? Visually there are a couple of differences between the 72/3 dial markings and the 75/6 versions of the Frankfurt model.

The one on left (in photo below) is from my Blaupunkt 1973 catalogue and the one on right is from my 75 catalogue; these differences are also evident in the examples in the links you posted between the early one and the later one. (Not referring to faceplate and knobs as they typically came separately.)

As long as seller and buyer are both happy is all that matters. Subtle details and moot now.

No criticism of seller intended here, just pointing out a source of misunderstanding when dating FS Blaupunkt radio units because this particular point of confusion seems to persist on this forum despite several postings on the topic and Der White's helpful resource. Hopefully this topical example of a Euro Frankfurt helps in the future, especially if radio year of production is important

    Cheers
