Value of a complete 2.2L MFI S engine?

    Hi all,
By way of introduction, my name is Steve and I live in San Luis Obispo, California, hence my clever username.
Beginning about 25 years ago, I began autocrossing, then time trialing various Porsches, starting with a 78 Targa, then an 85 Carrera, then a 71 914–6 GT clone. Along the way, I picked up a 71T RS conversion with a stock engine. I bought the engine in question to put into this car, but then went a different direction with the twin plug MFI 2.7 L instead.

Fast-forward about seven years, which in the meantime I bought a GT3 and spent far too much time and money on bicycles, watches, and guitars.

So, I've had this engine in my garage for a while now, and have no current need for it.
It is a type 911/02 serial 6301259 engine with approximately 80,000 original miles, running when removed. It is complete with its original alloy stack MFI and all shrouding, etc--basically as pulled from a car. It has been sitting for probably ten years, so it will need a refresh, I am sure.

    My questions are:

    Where to list?
I put it in the lost and found thread in hopes of finding its rightful chassis, and was going to consider listing here as well as on Rennlist and Pelican and keep eBay as a back up.

    How to list?
Should I sell the engine as a complete unit, or separate the MFI from the engine to sell separately (which seems sacrilegious to me) ?

    What's the current market value?
I have been out of the early 911 market for a few years, so I am at a bit of a loss here. When I asked the question at Pelican and Rennlist, I was told that this forum would be a better resource.

I don't really mean for this to be a backhanded classified, and I intend to stick around, Especially since the forum now has a more R Gruppe and hod-rod friendly vibe.

Thanks for your input and wisdom.

    Steve

As a follow-up, I see that a number of people have viewed this thread, and I have received a couple of p.m.s with interested buyers, but no pricing.
FYI, information I have received from Rennlist and Pelican parts members had put it in the $15-$18,000 range as it sits. Today one member replied that he had knowledge of one that just changed hands in pieces with no MFI for $20,000, so I am still in a bit of a quandary as far as pricing is concerned.
I will, of course wait for a bit for the proper chassis owner to come forward. If it helps anyone, I bought the engine from a gentleman in San Jose, who had converted the chassis to a race car project.

I sold a 2.4S longblock (out to the valve covers) core engine for $10,000 last year, so add in your complete injection, exhaust, flywheel, etc. should add another $10,000 I would expect.

Where to list? All you mentioned would be prudent.

How to list? This group tends to want all the parts together. But ultimately, it's your call.

Hoping to see your listing once you have an asking price.
