No doubt!!! My son can do it, but not well! He did get some "clutch" practice as he drove a tractor for me last summer.

"Police say a kidnapping in South Carolina was thwarted because Demetric Jerod Nelson, 27, couldn't operate a manual stick shift in the victim's car."
Benny and the jets - My '77S Rebuild Adventure
A few years ago we went to Cavallino in West Palm Beach, then to Mar-a-Lago for the Italian Sunday show, all part of the January Ferrari Concours. A rather grand event to say the least. Even if you bring a Ferrari, you don't get to park it yourself. 'Tony' deal this is.
Drove my 200 turbo Audi and pulled up to the Trump manse where the Sunday show was held, and a couple of Valet run up to help us dismount our steed of a different persuasion. There began to be a bit of a line form up in a que behind us when the Valet, obviously flustered as to how to manipulate the gated shifter and engage drive, is registering a frustrated look at me.
He motioned for me to advance to the open window and "please help, and tell me how to get this 'gear leever' to properly understand forward motion". Now this is an automatic car, making the situation even more amusing. I reached across his lap and pushed down on the top of the shifter after telling him to push down on the brake at the same time. Engagement.
At the end of the day we all waited for the valets to bring us our cars and I waited and waited. Watched the head of Ferrari North America get into his fluorescent green Kia he had rented at the airport, various Ferraris lurching to and fro ( manuals undoubtedly ) and a wide variety of other foreign makes such as Jaguar, Audi, some Porsches, mostly BMWs that all belonged to the attendees, approach and leave the mansion grounds.
Finally a young girl came driving up in my Audi 200 and apologized for the wait. She stated none of the guys who were valeting knew how to drive my car and get it to engage the shifter from park to drive. It was 'locked in park'. She volunteered to drive it as her Dad and Mom had one just like it down the road, and she frequently got to use it driving her friends about. She said :
AND, I kid you not.
"Dad always can tell I have been driving his Audi, because he believes I must have it on boost all the time. The fuel tank is always dry and often asks when do I shift it , at redline or slightly before?"
She got a nice tip that day from me. I reached in my pocket and gave her a couple of 20s.
"Keep it on boost, they breathe better", I told her.
I hope she is working the event this year. That girl had sports car love in her veins !

Love hearing stories like this. Thanks Don.
Glad you rewarded her for the beat down she put on her co-workers.
I think ye've missed the point, it's not the stick shift it's the four wheel drive, two wheel drive, neutral lever that would catch them. They'd end up with a box full of neutrals. I've just bought my first ever automatic car last month and I'm driving for 41 years. Then I bought a second, Cayenne 2013 Diesel and a 2016 GT3 RS.
