    David Bowie . . .

    . . . gone

Was a total Led Zeppliner --- 'till my Sis turned me on to him . . . to this . . .

    Never 'mainstream'

    Never 'Top 40'

    Never anything but . . . himself

And almost never on the radio for it . . .

    . . . but always there --- somewhere . . .

    . . . and with me . . .

    . . . in my head

    Breaks my heart

And I am watching the last spiders from Mars concert from July 73 (the same time as my 73 911 was being built) as I am reading this. The passing of an icon. Lou Reed's passing shocked me.... But while I was a great "velvets" fan it has not impacted nearly as much as Bowie's. The star man has gone back to the stars but popular music will always be the richer for his time here.

Amazing how his music transcended generations. With contemporary movie producers being smart enough to include 70's and 80's music over the last 10-15 years, my kids grew up on Bowie.
My youngest daughter was a blubbering mess yesterday.

The mold was broken after him. Ziggy Stardust was off-the-chart creative for its day. I'm afraid we're going to lose some more great talent over the next several years.

Unfortunately fresh and innovative musicians are rare as hen's teeth these days.

Best of the BBC radio Sessions 68-72... Some of his best recordings... Mostly pre Ziggy

What a talented person. He will continue on, he was already in his Heaven on Earth. How many can say they did it their way for ever and ever, and was very successful? What a range of talent and forward thinking, one of the first music videos was his in 1969 before MTV:

How about him and Bing Crosby 1977:
