Thread: Headliner Restoration ?

  1. #1

    Headliner Restoration ?

My headliner is original and the only issue is discoloration. Is there a good way to restore in place by re-dying ? Also have heard it can be removed and re-dyed and reinstalled.
Has anyone accomplished an excellent solution without re-placing?
    Sources would also be appreciated.
    Thanks

To remove a headliner you have to remove all the window glass. To remove the old headliner and reinstall it would be insane. A new one is less than $200.
I have sprayed a cleaning solution on and then take hours to toothbrush it clean the best I can.

    Frank,

I agree with Rick, I've used a pretty strong cleaning solution, added a little bleach, diluted in warm water and worked it with a soft brush and then a sponge a little section at a time. Then wiped/blended bigger sections with a rag in the same solution, then then wipe down with clear warm water.

    Two things I've done:
Try it out on small area first, possibly low by the rear window.
And cover the rest of your interior from the drips of the cleaning solution....

    Hope this helps,

Thank you Chuck and Rick, will give it a go.
Am sure it will be tedious but if not successful , is the original perforated patterned materials available and who is best source ?
    Thanks for assistance
