    FS: 70's Blaupunkt Frankfurt Stereo

    This radio was installed in my recently purchased 1970 911-S, but I am going to use a MONO version as the speakers that were top mounted on the rear deck will not be used. No ID tag, so I honestly have no idea what year the unit is, but it works fine. One of the photos was taken yesterday before removal. The unit has the proper side clips, knobs, bezel, and rear (dual) speaker plug-in wiring. $425.00 Thank you.

    Does this help a little with dating and identification given the missing sticker ...

    The first Frankfurt model with stereo decoder first appeared around 1969 with number 7 639 695 or 7 639 696 for U.S. These units typically have serial prefix Axxxxxx.

    A Blaupunkt technical supplement volume 12/69 is first I know of that describes the stereo decoder and it shows with the exception of the stereo decoder the unit is quite similar to service as the 7 639 600 mono of that year. There are some differences regarding the placement/ ergonomics of certain controls notably the balance inconveniently on the side like in the FS example pictured, not on front ass became the convention later.

    There isn't any reference I can see to stereo Frankfurt in the equivalent technical binder from previous year Zxxxxxx.
