    The 911R used the earlier pn '901.xxx', while the 71-72 ST I believe used the later 10K VDO tach with the pn '911.xxx'. This could essentially be a replacement OEM 10K VDO Tach for a 71-72' ST, or a 100% correct tach for the 73' RSR. In a perfect world one would look for a 72' date-code tach for their 72' model year ST, but what are the chances of finding one today? Not being a modified VDO 10K tach unit, but rather a rare OEM 10K VDO tach, I would not hesitate to use it in a 72' ST if I had one. You can always purchase this tach, then used it until you find the correct OEM 72' date-coded unit--but good luck with that!
