    S Deco Trim Question

I'm trying to put S trim back on my LWB as originally delivered and have a question about the front bumper.

Do the guards cover a single rubber insert or is the insert split where the guards mount to the bumper?

Also, I have repro T trim on the car now (except for rockers) probably as a result of respray done by PO. So, if I can't find original S trim, I guess it wouldn't be "terrible" to replace the T trim with repro S. Are all the repro S trim's out there the same quality/fit?

If by guards you mean the chrome overriders then they just go over the beading that at the back of the S trim for the front bumper.

The overriders have their own plastic trim that runs down each outside edge too.

Repro trims vary front bumper trims never fit properly but not sure even the factory supplied ones do either now.

    Thanks Clyde.

So I assume from your response that the setup shown in these pictures is a "hack job" of sorts. These were offered to me for sale, but didn't quite look right to me. I know the inserts shrink over time, but this seemed extreme. The insert is cut into three pieces. I was wondering if the guards here are actually T-type, and they cut the insert so that they would "fit."

Oh you were talking about the front rubber, I was talking about the rear plastic beading, no it is definately is one piece except for the very ends which are stuck on. You should see that on the rubber you have
and they often seperate at that point

Maybe they are T trim overriders as the cut out is bigger for the S trim and maybe thats why the rubber is cut as they won't fit otherwise

You can get the metal re anodised on the bumper trim or if its good you can buy the rubber trim, though I suggest you buy from Porsche.

Interesting Ed not split under the chrome ones though just holes drilled in the rubber

Confirm what Ed says for 73 only. At least that is the case on my 73.

My car is a '71. The bumper in the pictures above is off a '72, but I can't say if it is original.

So the rubber inserts from Porsche are different (and fit better) than those sold by others? I was under the impression that it was all made by Tasker Metal. There certainly is a considerable price difference when you factor in the deco + insert (5x).

Is it possible that the trim on the purple car in Stephens photos is on a 73.5 and originally had the big rubber overrides? My 73.5 had S trim like that with the rubber over riders until I swapped it. The trim is in three pieces, as in the photos.
