    1970 Front Fender Support Question

    Hey Everyone,
I am restoring a 1970 911T and am confused on what supports the front fender via headlight bucket?
Is there a mount which goes from the battery box to the bottom of the headlight buckets?

I have seen (hard to see) photos online where I notice different supports...and some have zero support.
    What is correct for a 70-71 ?

Yes, the bucket bracket connects to a bracket that mounts to the battery box (top hole is visible in your photo). Having said that, the bracket that is on the headlight bucket in the photo appears incorrectly positioned, i.e. it would not match the square 'U' shaped battery box bracket holes. The battery box bracket has two 90 degree bends at the top and bottom pointing away from the battery box and would need a corresponding oriented bracket from the headlamp bucket to secure the two. Someone likely has a photo...hopefully I have not further confused!

Yes, I have those brackets (not in photo) although it seems like they are a little ways off from screwing into the headlight bucket directly. I have also seen an 'L' shaped bracket in other photos.
I know the fenders I have are not original, the passenger fender doesn't have a tab like whats shown in the photo but it has an additional hole in the headlight bucket. I assume different mounting techniques were used through out the years of long hoods...??? Anyone have pics? Thanks!

Here is a picture of a 1973. 1970-71 would be similar except for horn mounting. It seems like someone attached your L bracket incorrectly to the headlight bucket.

E Sully's post and photo reminded me that yes, the bracket that is on your fender headlamp bucket should not be there...the 'additional' hole in the bucket is for the bolt that aligns with the battery box bracket. My 70 and 73 cars have the identical set up as shown in the above photo...except for the horn mounting as noted.

Thanks guys! that pic is essentially what i have. Seems like I have to modify the drivers side and remove the bracket. Thanks again for the insight!
