    73 Door cap detail ?

    These were loose when I purchased car. One has a sewn detail at the end and the other does not.
    Which is correct for a 73

    I don't think either of those is correct for a '73. The one without the seam looks like a 69-71. I don't know what the other one is. Were leather door caps ever an option on early cars? Seeing the back side of these would help.

    So took additional photos of back and details. Also decided to peel back the coverings. With the leather pulled back there was the original finish ....the back detail a of the ends are right at the edges some real talent in trimming.

    The one with the lighter green backside is a 69-71 door cap. The other is a 72+ that was evidently recovered at some point. You need the 72+ style and, bad news, they're very hard to find in good condition. Your next best option would be to have a set of 69-71 door tops recovered. 69-71 tops are often recovered and used in the 72+ cars as the 72+ door tops are a very tight fit once you recover over the original vacuum-formed vinyl.

    Yet another option is sending a set of cracked/damaged 72+ tops to JustDashes.com for restoration as they can do the correct vinyl application.

    Thanks for review and comments. I have review the JUst dashes site and very nice work.
    Did not realize the finish was vacuumed formed.
    Again thanks for your advisement.
    Now will post for cracked and damaged 72-73 tops.
