Tom Woodford & his "new" Solex engine

I just returned from yesterday's nearly 800 mile round trip in 1QuickS to Tom Woodford's to install a set of my Solex carbs onto his 1965 engine that is just finished after a year's effort. We partnered-up to get this project together and I am very glad to have it behind me.

He plans to take the engine on its test stand to the All Porsche Swap Meet at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim on 6March. Info about the engine can be obtained from Tom @ 775.625.4023 or by email ctwfactorytour@hotmail.com

Photos of: Tom in his "back yard", the finished engine (less exhaust which is being powder coated) and of my Solexes. Engine serial number is 902404.

    Gorgeous!!! What can I say....

Did you 2 restore the Solex's or were they done by a third party? Any hints on the process? I have a complete set with the snorkel, linkages, etc. that I need to restore.

How about posting a video of it running?

I serviced the Solexes, Tom did the engine. All items are 1965 vintage except exhaust which is SSI & OEM muffler date stamped in early 1070s I think, ask Tom.

Photo shows engine at fast idle, 2000RPM on the tach. Ask Tom for videos, I'm not making that round trip again for awhile! Up at 4AM & back home at 9:30PM.
