I have never seen a starter like that in a 911. Very early 911 starters don't look anything like that. They look very similar to a later starter but have a different number of teeth on the bendix gear. I would bet a small amount of money that that starter of yours is not a 911 or 912 or anything Porsche from that era.

    Regards

It doesn't look anything like what he is looking for.
Are we looking at the same picture?
He is looking for a starter that doesn't exist.

    Yup

Early starters had bendixes to match 109 tooth flywheels but they didn't have a nose on them like PSS's picture.

Gentlemen please. This is for the 1964 911 and the very early 1965 911 also had this starter engine. The most distinguishing feature is the cap over the teeth and the extra bearing on the axle.

    the Porsche part number is 901 604 102 00.

Expect to pay serious coin. One of the hardest parts to find, in the same category as a tall grill.

BTW the starter of a Zimboni (machine used of ice skating tracks) is similar in appearance but the nose piece is not removable.

Since - apparently to Jim's and Rick's input - there was a 109 more common (later style) starter too, till when in 65 was this starter w/ CAP used?
