You know what's like a 1960's era car?

A 1960's era turntable. I just got this, and the controls are so definite, it's more like driving a car then playing a record.

I love the analogy, but I'd rather drive an old car than listen to vinyl. The digital music still brings me all the memories.

Well I've had a lot of turntables, Dual, Perpetual-Ebner (PE), a Thorens 160, Rega P3, and a Pro-ject. But I wore out the Pro-ject and started to figure out what to get next. I read how there is a new appreciation for the non-suspension, idler wheel turntables of the late 1950's early 60's. And I really have to say that the sound of this turntable is totally different, much meatier, then the other turntables I have owned. The discrepancy in sound from digital to analog is an old discussion at this point. And I generally don't drive in the house.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

    Used to have a Garrard. Now I'm a Rega man - own 3 currently (P3, P25, P9).

    Here's my Gulf Blue P3:

Right, everyone has a suspension, belt drive, turntable. We all were told that was the way to go after the AR turntable came out in the early 60's. There were many manufacturers in Europe who made these and all the buff magazines wrote about them, as they do to this day. But I wanted to say that this idler wheel turntable I just got is quite different sonically. And there is something so much like a German vintage car about it's function that I bring it up here.
