    67 100 litre steel tank...is it genuine?

I have been asked to sell this for a friend which I will do on here once I establish if its a genuine tank or not.

Can people please pass judgement on the pics as while I think it is I am no expert on early fuel tanks

I have looked inside the tank and appears to have divisions going at right angles to one another in a + shape.

There is no sender with a date to help with the ID

    Thanks

    It certainly looks the parts
Mine has the same gloss black top and grey undercoat
There is a seam towards the tear on the upper portion
There are repro now available but its just been very recent and the overall patina on yours suggest its an original

I would make sure his car does not need it

Yes I saw the seam and that made me wonder if it was a repro so thanks for confirming originals had the seam as well.

I figured no repro would have the 3 little creases at the front corners of the tank (last 2 pics), tank has been in Australia for a while too so probably eliminates the repro making it down under also looks too old for that
    as well.

More opinions please as I would hate to try to sell this as original to find out its not...that's one of my pet hates and I am sure I would deservedly be attacked from all directions if I did.

Identifying an Original 100l Touring Tank

    Hey, Clyde . . .

Tough to tell --- especially if the tank 's been re-finished. I would look for a 'seam' on the upper back-side, but . . . the repros may have this feature now, as well. Take note of the 'quality'

Here's a thread for an original tank that Frank Beck had for sale . . .

Thread offers some comments pricing, as well. Not a common bit

    Also . . .

    . . . as I recall . . .

. . . some repros were made using the bottoms of standard tanks

Short-Version = looking at the bottom may not be the best way to evaluate a Big Tank
