    2.2 E engine rebuild question...

I need to bore out the standard size cylinders on a 2.2 E engine that I am rebuilding...what are the options for repair sized pistons? What is typically done?

    Source for the replacement pistons?

    Thanks much!

Usually you just replace the cylinders and pistons in a set. There were places that would redo or exchange your pistons and cylinders with an oversized bore. 2.2 and 2.4 use 84 mm bore size but the 2.4 has a longer stroke so don't use 2.4 pistons on 2.2 stroke or you can end up with real low compression. JE makes good pistons so you might want to check with them.

Used single pistons/cylinders; EBS Racing, parts wanted classified here, Pelican parts wanted

Good options for replacement of the set:
1-find a good used set, and clean them up ~$1000

For likely more life than used parts...
2-bore cylinders from 84mm to 85mm, use JE pistons ~$1500
3-bore & replate cylinders w/ Nikasil, use JE pistons ~$2100
4-use new LNE Cylinders & new JE pistons, ~$4800
    5-Original NOS Mahle Set, ~$5000?

No, it's possible on Aluminum and Iron cylinders.
