Rear torsion bar installation on '67 911S

When preparing to install the rear torsion bars on the '67, I noticed that the splined lengths on either end are different. Does the longer splined end go in or out of the tube?

I recently did mine and I don't recall which end had longer splines. But the spline count is different for the inner/outer. The inner has 40 splines while the outer has 44.

HAH!! That solves the issue. Thanks for the quick reply. How did you figure out the spline count difference? Trial and error?

During my second career as a high school teacher I constantly reminded my students that the only dumb question was the one that was not asked. Well, my queston about the torsion bars was pretty dumb when I broke down and tried to fit the bar in the tube. Of course I found out that they only go in one way. Sorry I asked a dumb question.

Oh don't worry. By the time you get your ride height at the level you want you will be an "expert" as well. Good luck
