'. . . The ground up bare metal restoration was started in 2013 and nearly three years was spent on a cost no object restoration. No bolt was untouched. The ultimate goal was to create a concours d’elegance worthy specimen that would considered the best in the US. This was not just built as a show car but built to meet or exceed factory standards allowing the new owner the option of using the car as factory new car with all wear items in new condition giving the owner confidence of a very reliable car.

In 1972, a total of 12,962 Porsche 911s were built. On those only 2,739 were higher horsepower “S” models and only 1,750 of those were the more desirable coupes. Fewer yet were Sunroof Coupes.

As a result of all this work, the car is an excellent driving example. The engine sounds great and performs well, and the car is tight and responsive. The gearbox works well and the brakes are very effective. The car is quite civilized and comfortable, but also very sporting, and it is abundantly clear that the car has been properly and professionally restored.

Please note in the photos, that areas out of sight and out of mind and normally ignored in lesser “restorations” have been refurbished to the same level as visible parts of the car. Cabling and heater parts behind the engine for example have all been replaced despite the fact that they will probably never be seen. The same goes for items behind blowers, suspension parts and skid plates. No nut or bolt has gone untouched. (See "Details" heading for photos of these areas)

    SOME NOTABLE FEATURES

Original matching engine has been completely rebuilt top and bottom by local Porsche engine/transmission specialist
    • The original MFI has also received complete rebuild
Transmission completely rebuilt with new synchros and gears
Original door pockets restored. Not fiberglass reproductions
      Factory installed sunroof completely rebuilt
Correct muffler and stainless steel heat exchangers
All gauges have been rebuilt and recalibrated by Hollywood Speedometer and reinstalled with new clips, connectors, bulbs and wiring so there are no gauge shorting issues in the future
The original Fuchs wheels have been restored by Fuchs wheel specialist Al Reed
The original tool kit is concours complete. The basketweave bag with correct snaps is in good condition contains:
All 5 wrenches stamped correctly with “selected special steel”
The 17x19 box end wrench is correctly marked Chrom-Vandium
The plug wrench is the Klein 21 with correct tapered end
The pliers are the correct Hapewe type
The fan belt wrench correctly scripted P208
Both screw drivers are marked “10,000 Volt” with one Phillips head and one “Duck Bill” flat blade
Five new period correct Vredestein tires installed, test miles only
Factory Sport Seats have been upgraded to leather and the hound’s-tooth fabric is the authentic $400 per yard wool goods
Interior was restored by Porsche specialist shop Autobahn interiors
      Original radio rebuilt and working
Original “S” lightweight brake calipers completely restored by PMB Porsche Brake Specialist. All 4 corners restored to as new with new pads, lines, valving, rotors and finish. These are the correct 911S 1972 calipers
Suspension has been completely replaced with all parts new. Including struts, shocks, tie rods, bushings etc. This gives the car the original look and “stance”
This car still has the original steel S front valance
The 911S oil cooler in the front wheel well is the factory original Behr Widemouth Oil cooler with M30 x 15 fittings
The entire oil cooling system has been removed. The cooler radiator was removed from the front wheel well and taken to Critical Operations, Santa Ana where they purged, cleaned and pressure tested the unit. When replaced in car, all flex hoses were replaced with new stock to make sure the old ones contained no debris or weak walls.
The window assemblies have all be re-anodized and look like new
The black badging has been correctly anodized in black and not powder coated
The paint is done to a very high standard and has been blocked and re-blocked numerous times resulting in very straight body panels with even the doors showing flat lines with no waviness. The car was completely disassembled for paint. Including sunroof out, drivetrain out, suspension removed, windows, frames and interior removed
All glass is in great condition. The windshield is a correct Sigla while the remaining windows are all Sekurit and believed to be original
Door locks work with ignition key
Thanks to the restoration being done on what we believe to be an accident free car the panel fit and gaps are perfect
Updated oil fed chain tensioners were installed on engine rebuild
New clutch, CV joints and new axles
New engine sound pad replaced at time of engine reinstall

And only 46 were Rhd with 20 or so surviving so there's the holy grail.........

Lovely looking car. Pity about the toolkit. I'm always in two minds about these 'better than new restorations'. Is that what the market wants now?

Thats a very pretty car. I noticed that the odometer shows only 9 miles. I know in Texas, when selling, one has to certify that the mileage is correct, and if an odometer has been reset or replaced, a tag must be attached to the car.
I get that it has been restored, but why not keep the original mileage? I can't imagine it would affect the value of a detailed restoration.

This car was on display this past Lit Show weekend in front at Jim Liberty’s Open House on Saturday. Car seemed to be drawing lots of interest.

Not for cars 10 years and older (unless it's a 2011 or later car in that case it's 20 years or older starting this year). Those cars are all classified as EXEMPT from mileage disclosure regulations as they are in many states (ask me how I know ).
