Are there any date codes to be found under the pulley on each case half? I am still trying to determine when the date codes began. I have 11/64 at engine 900541. Also, case mating # on the top?

Thanks, so no casting dates on the end of the case. They had date codes on most 356 castings however. I wonder if they are found elsewhere on these early 911 cases?
The mating numbers on the top of the case are interesting. I have not seen them there before. Here is the usual location about midway down the spine:

Interesting, I also do not see the cam gear code stamped on the face there either. I wonder when that started.

Hello Dave
Thanks for sharing all the great info.
I can take more pics of any specific area you need.
Pm sent.
If you can, just go over the case and see what stamped #'s you can find, or anything that looks like a date code.
The area on top where most mating #'s are found could be photographed if only to show that it is not there. Thus the other location would be where it is found on the earliest cases. Knowing these variations in markings exist is the first step.
Many thanks.
