    California Bill to Exempt Pre-1981 Vehicles
    from Emissions Inspection Requirement
    to be Considered on April 12, 2016


    Legislation (S.B. 1239) to exempt all motor vehicles prior to the 1981 model year from the emissions inspection requirement will be considered by the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee on April 12, 2016. Current law requires the lifetime testing of all 1976 and newer model-year vehicles.

    We recently expended quite a bit of effort and time on getting a '76 S to pass the visual test, let alone the sniffer.

    Supported! Tho, I wish they would propose a simple 25-year old rolling rule. But hey, we'll take what we can get -- if we get it.
