    Chassis question on 65 911 (901)

With the front guards off the SWB chassis there are round tubes on either side that are parallel to the front of the car that are just below the nose area and approx. 25mm in diameter. Can anyone throw some light on what these two tubes do on each side of the car.
If necessary could photograph them and post but think all the experts would know and save me the trouble.

    Thanks
    David

I am not an expert so I have to guess, do you mean the headlight buckets "supports"? The one's that goes your wiring through and that attaches to your fender w/ a small rubber sleeve?

Do you have a parts manual at hand? BTW pictures are always helpful and prevent a lot of 'wrong' answers like may be mine is.

I'll second that, pictures will help. As I type this there's a '65 911 about 20 feet from where I sit and I'm not even sure what you mean by "front guards"

By the way, what's the chassis number of your car? If it's really early you'll get a lot of added interest on this forum/

    Headlight wireing raceway tube?

If we are talking about the stub tube that is part of the inner fender - which accepts the "J" tube, it looks like this:

This is Paul Risinger's 1967S - the configuration is the same for the 1965-1966 cars with the exception of the horn mounts.

All of the parts - clamps, j tube, lower spigot/conduit, rubber sleeve(though its not that accurate) are available from the usual suspects.
