'. . . For sale is an original Porsche 911 ST, 914-6 GT or 911 Carrera RSR steering wheel with lightweight plastic bowtie horn button. The wheel and the bowtie are both original Porsche parts and not restored, nor are they reproduction parts. Both the wheel and bowtie are in excellent, original condition. The steering wheel has the larger 3 5/8 leather grip/wrap and has cross stitching throughout, with no baseball stitching at the spokes. Also please note, there is no padding on the spokes with leather on the step down, to the metal spokes, which is all original to the Porsche larger, thicker 3 5/8 grip wheel. The part number for the wheel is 914.347.803.10 with a date of 4/70.
This wheel was available through the Porsche racing department, but did come on the following Porsche factory race cars: 911ST and 914-6 GT and the 1973 911 Carrera RSR.
The plastic bowtie horn button was available on the early/homologation 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. The homologation RS 911s were the first 500 Carrera RS 911s built. The plastic bowtie horn button, was just one of the many lightweight parts Porsche used on the homologation (first 500) Carrera RS 911s. The standard/metal frame, bowtie horn button, was used on the Carrera RS 911s built later in the year or after the first 500 cars. The part number on the bowtie horn button is 901.613.805.0.
There are no rips or tears on the leather steering wheel and the plastic bowtie horn button is flawless as well. The paint on the steering wheel spokes is all original as well . . .'
