    Angry Transmission carrier bushings?

Why is this such a problem for me? I am attempting to insert new transmission carrier bushings into the pictured carrier. I believe the carrier is refered to a 901 carrier for a 1967 911. I first went online to find the items and saw a descriptoin for "engine/tranny mounts." They came in the metal supports for the engine mounts, as shown. When I inquired just how am I supposed to use these for my carrier, I was told to press the bushings out. That did not work as they are vulcanized into the metal supports. I then ordered WEVO bushings for the model year and when they arrived it is obvious that I don't know a thing about these items as the "pillows" will not fit as I imagined.

Where can I order such a simple thing as two press-in bushings for this tranny carrier?

what trans. is going into what MY car?

the xpiece looks like a 915 item but I don't see the holes for the mounts

the pic shows 1 or 2 mounts, which looks like a 915 item, either the cab or the regualr mounts

The carrier is for MY 1967 for a type 901 transmission. The shown bushing/mount from Sierra Madre is advertised for this model year but obviously is for a later model carrier. I just need a source for the rubber bushings. I just spoke to Stoddard and the rep said that they only have the factory carrier with the installed bushings but that is wayto expensive for me to get two lously bushings. Frustrating.

    Jerry,

Good to see you got the old ones out.

I've got nearly 12,000 miles on my SuperPro set, and am still happy......

They are a two piece bush, so no need for any special tools.

    Thanks, Tony

I just spoke to Pelican Parts and ordered a set (for two complete bushings) which should be the correct ones. They do not say "SuperPro" but are a two piece set which will not require pressing in . Thanks for the advice.

They aren't vulcanized in place and can be pressed apart, pushing the center bushing out first. This is what Zim's does if you send them your cross member to rebush. I used the two piece Rebel Racing bushings when I did mine. I had some trouble getting the bolts back in though because my cross member was slightly tweaked and the holes didn't line up perfectly.

I had my X member modified by wevo for the black pillows.

Sorry to disagree with the situation, Mike, but the ones that I got from Sierra Madre were really vulcanized in place. Both the center metal bushings and the outer edges were unbreakable. All the "rubber" disingreated when I attempted to press them out. I know what that is. I was considering using a torch to break the outer bond but, why should I have to do that with a new item. Pelican Parts has the new bushings on the way. I wish I had had a long discussion with them before I went on on this tangent. Such is war.
