    Shift coupler access panel question

Is the access panel for a 72 solid or vented? Thanks. Nick

Thanks. There was one for sale on the bird that sold in minutes, but now I know what to look for. Nick

    Nick,

All the 72s I have owned had the solid type cover.

Would it depend if webasto is fitted?

For what it's worth, the only solid cover I've ever seen was on a 912. It really caught me by surprise when I saw it.

    does solid mean no grill?

or does solid mean the grill is blocked off on the back (side nearest the shift coupler)?

the latter is what I usually see

The 72's should have grill type, usually closed up with a thick backing. This was done thru 72 as a Webasto was still available. If Webasto fitted the thick backing would be removed. 73 up would be solid, no vents.

I can add that my 73 has a solid (no vent slats) cover and the crinkle finish matches the hinges on my sport seats. If anyone has a vented cover in a box in your garage that's been there for years and needs a new home please pop me a PM. Thanks.
