    100 l tank + fuel sender

Is it possible to get the standard fuel gauge in the car( that normal is used for the 62L tank and sender) to measure correct with the 100 L tank and longer sender??

perhaps there was a special 100 l fuel gage for the tank in the old days?

Does the standard fuel gauge need to be calibrated or something? or do i just have to live with a huge spare tank…. 30+ Liter

I have the correct 100 l fuel sender from specialty cars made as the original ones

    thanks

did you speak with Nick over at Specialty cars? I would think he could build the sender based on the resistance needed for the standard gauge, or you could have a gauge made to act like the one compatible with the 100L sender. Nick is very enthusiastic about the parts he builds, no doubt he can assist with this.

damn, no i did not know this was the issue… so I did not tell Nick`s people that I have a 62 L gauge.

I will try to ask him what to do.

the nice thing about the fuel gauge is you can replace just the gauge and leave the rest of the housing alone/intact, if you worry about those things.

wonder if it is possible to build in some kind of resistance on the wires going to the gauge, that you can remove if gong back to stock 62 l tank.?

    answer from Nick`s

I spoke with Nick in regards to the 62 L gauge; Porsche only made one type of fuel gauge.

The sending units are built to factory 100L specifications; they do read slightly different than the 62L sender. If your gauge is reading that far off, we recommend that you have it tested and calibrated.

A 62L sender reads 2 ohms at full and 67 ohms at empty. 100L senders read 2 ohms at full and 86 ohms at empty. If you install a resister to lessen the ohms value at empty, it will also lessen your full ohms value as well

IIRC the gauge is different too. Surely a regular gauge could be recalibrated to read right.
