    Brake Hard Line Replacement

I am planning to replace the brake hard lines on my 73 E during it's restoration as several of them are badly corroded. I have searched all the usual supply places (Stoddard, Pelican, PartsKlassic, Aase, etc) and you cannot buy a complete set of Porsche Original lines. There is a pre-bent aftermarket set made by Uro Parts, but Uro Parts get pretty bad quality scores on Pelican and online in general, although I can't fine any comments specific to their brake lines. The other route is a set of lines made by Cohline that you bend yourself. I cannot find any quality commentary on them, which is a positive. I am concerned about getting the complex shapes right if I bend them myself.

Does anyone have experience with Cohline or Uro Parts hard lines or any other that they can share?

    thanks, Mark

    Mark,

I faced the same problem when I restored my car.

I ended up with a set of Cohline lines and a hand bender. It's not hard, just a little time consuming.

Take your time when removing the origional lines so their shape is retained.

Stoddard sell all the individual lines in pre bent configuration. I would go that route instead of aftermarket if you are not comfortable forming your own.

We have pre-bent early 911 / 912 lines and we're getting ready to release the later versions. All are CNC bent, have proper tubing and Cohline fittings.

for what it is worth, i have two "go to" sources for brake-related items, in no particular order. i always call paul domitrovic of stoddard. paul works on his own cars, in addition to selling parts, so he has first-hand experience on what works and what is 'close-but-requires-extra-work.'

the other one is PMB, who has given me very good guidance, as well as selling high quality products.

    hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help; there are several good choices.

Per, when do you anticipate Stoddard will have the full set for the 73?

    thanks, Mark

I've used a couple sets from PMB. One in steel and one stainless. Both were close enough and only needed a tweak here and there.

We now have the 69-77 brake line kits available, in green or galvanized.
