    Engine mount distance

Alright, I need help with a technical question. In looking over the engine bay, I noticed by sight that the original motor mounts looked a little off kilter. I am planning to change the left side rear fender anyway and was looking over the general area and noticed the misalignment of the mounts. Restoration Design suggest that I correct the problem because upon installing a new engine I am going to have misalignment problems with the engine as compared to the transmission when connected and placed.

There had been previous damage to the left rear fender by an accident, I am sure, and quite possibly the main beam rail thus causing the distance difference when a prior owner may have fixed the car following the mishap. Please see the attached photos of left side vs right. I have the left side at almost 20.5 inches distance from the cross beam of the shock towers to the left motor mount and 20 inches on the right side distance. In centimeters of course it is 52 CM and 51 CM respectively. Should I correct the left to match the right at the 20 inches? Is that the spec for distance from shock tower beam to beginning of motor mount metal? Thank you.

Never mind on this thread, having measured the distances to the holes from the shock towers to the motor mount holes they are equidistant. I can see that the PO has cut the metal portions of the motor mount brackets in order to fit the 912 engine brackets that were formerly in the car. Thanks for looking.
