WTB: Pin for Orange Bar Hood Crest

Looking for one pin to repair an early hood crest. Contacted Sierra Madre, Stoddard and PP but got nothing.

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott

I can help but I'm in the UK. I've had a few made to the original (pre-74) spec but the cost of sending one pin to the USA might be more than its worth.

I have found that any kind of epoxy repair (and I've tried a few) eventually gives way with use. The only way to successfully re-fix is with soldering and I've found a way to do that without damaging the enamel (so far!). You should consider having that done if its a nice badge. It the epoxy comes adrift at speed your badge can disappear into the undergrowth never to be seen again.

    Regards
    Mike

I'm also in need of one. Are you selling them on an ongoing basis?

FYI. I've found the best way to repair these is by taking it to a jewelry repair shop. I've done several that way and the charge has be negligible.

Just an FYI, these are the same pins:

I think I have some of these center caps somewhere, they also have the same pins that were painted silver but can be brought back to original.

If I can find them I will send you each one.

Thank you both for the replies. Mike (Fitton) if you do have one to spare I'd happily pay you for your troubles to ship one.

A big thank you goes out to CarmelSkip, who dug one up, and shipped the pin to me...without even asking for anything in return.

I couldn't even get a call back from some of the businesses who support the Porsche community with a "sorry we don't have such a part.."

I can't say thank you enough for such a nice gesture. As he said, the Registry community has been great to him, and it has been great to me. Thank you Skip!

Roofing nails work great. They are the exact diameter, and the very thin, flat head is great for soldering or epoxy.

Great idea, they come on copper as well as galvanized steel.
