Emulsion tube selection is akin to relationships with people

I have established a fine relationship with F26 emulsion tubes in my hot rod 2.3 liter with S-cams where F3s are the rule. I think the relationship with E-tubes is rather like that with people in that you find what works & build on that. There is perfection of the mind but acceptance works pretty well also. As long as the key requirements are satisfied there can be some flexibility in the middle.

Does that tube have a bottom in it. Jerry Woods always preferred e tubes with bottoms. G.Led

Open bottom. F26s were for 2.0 Normals from 1966 thru 1968. I used it to see how it worked. So far I like it with 1500 miles driving. I do have an AFR gauge mounted so I can see mixture during driving.

Paul, if memory serves me did I not tell you that I also found the same with my car? I'll check my notes Monday.

    Hi Ed,

Last I knew your jetting was:
    • 32mm main venturis
    • 130 Main jets
    • F3 emulsion tubes
    • 170 Main air corrections
    • 60 idle jets
    • 110 idle air correction jets (OEM)
    • 70 High speed enrichment tubes
    • tall auxiliary venturis
    • 911R-ish muffler
    • 2.0 S-spec engine

I decided to try F26s on a whim to see if they can work well. I have some customers that use them with S-cams and are quite happy. My idle/progression is quite weird; I was using 52 idle jets but since I knife edged my 43mm throttle plates I now need 70 idle jets!!!!

Curiously, I recently discovered that High Speed Enrichment tubes were made in "70" which is larger than the S-specified "50" size. I assume those were for open exhaust, performance engines, which pretty well describes yours!
