    Thumbs up Happy B-Day #1099

43 years ago today my car rolled off the line........

I bought it 27 years ago with 86000 miles on the clock... (one of the best decisions I ever made)

Since rolling off the line the car has traveled a total of over 245,000 miles...

My 2003 2.7 match number engine rebuild was over 76000 miles ago.........

Between me and the previous owners, the car has consistently averaged over 5500 miles per year, every year...
And for sure for the last 27 years they have not been 'soft' miles.........

Drives, tours, track days, vacations, shows, and gatherings... An all-around (now vintage) sports car....

For me, (again, just for me) THAT'S what it's all about............

Cheers and thanks for letting me share.........
    Chuck

    Chuck,

Anything special you do to keep it looking so good? As I get closer to actually getting my '73S back, I look at all the bits and pieces lovingly restored to original sheen and gloss and colour and I wonder if I am nuts to drive it. Drive it down to level 2, rinse and repeat ? Or put it in the living room and forget about it?

Car won't leave my hands till I can't drive any more. So let's say 30-40 years at 3000 km a year. At that point it will look like an original car with some patina LOL. What's your maintenance and upkeep strategy ? Mine turned 43 in February. #0854

    Ravi,

    Hmmmm, let’s see:
    - I don’t put it away dirty...
    - Repairs get repaired ASAP, general maintenance kept up, and a big service about once a year.
    - I usually don’t take to places where I can’t see it parked…

Almost all of the paint is 26 years old…

Stopped using a bra on the front over 7 years ago… so the front is quickly turning into a 20 footer…

The car is so much fun to drive, and so honest … it’s really hard not to use it … and use it really hard….

    Cheers

    Congratulations, Chuck . . .

. . . and not just for the time you've owned your car --- but also the miles you've driven

    I'm sure that Ravi's comments resonate with many . . .

It's good to see someone just using/enjoying/sharing about their car, for a change

Hope I get to put as many miles on mine
