Anyone hear of Mystery Oil to your Gas Tank?

Someone with a 912 today told me that he adds Marvel Mystery oil to his gas tank to help sub for the missing lead in our current fuels. Can anyone confirm or debunk this idea?
Would like to get a consensus of this before I go dumping oil into the gas tank.

    Thoughts?

In the early parts of the former century this was commom practice - in german called oben-öl.
A friend of mine always uses a tiny little bit of synthetic 2 Stroke Oil (Mixture about 1:200).
It doesn't do any harm and adds a nice smell (like Castrol R30 in the former days) to his car.
It might help greasing valve stem and cylinder walls but I assume it won't help the valve seats.

Bardahl a manufacturer of additives was racing Porsches in the 50's too.

I don't use any, but might perhaps be tempted to add a little before going on a track day or so.

    Cheers

I suspect oil has an octane rating in the 100s.

I recall from my motorcycle days that adding oil for the two strokes increased effective octane.

If I recall correctly the "Maestro" of 356 engines used as additive for breaking in newly rebuilt engines to assist with seating valves for first several hundred miles.
