This 911 was a pretty base-level example when ordered new. Per the Porsche COA, it is an original Irish Green 911 and only had the Comfort Package option.

Although not much is known about the early history, it was clear from the full restoration that this 911 was a nice example that had no signs of major abuse.

The current owner is a fellow Early S/356 member how has been battling some unfortunate health issues. He had always wanted to build a sport-purpose/rally inspired 911 ever since seeing pictures of them as a teenager. He especially loved the hood mounted Cibie lights so much that he found a NOS set before he even bought this car to restore. This set of 4-lights had never been mounted and were still wearing their original factory primer. Now, he began his search for the right 911. He found this example in 2008. It had been painted another color sometime in the 80’s and the original motor had failed long ago and was already replaced. So, this owner decided to embark on a 2-year plus adventure restoring this Porsche back to its glory with some tasteful period-correct enhancements including, of course, the Rally lights

Some of the best local builders were hired for this restoration project.

Henry Schmidt of Supertec did the motor work:

2.7RS 8.5 to 1 piston and cylinder set
2.7 7R case with case savers and 8mm time certs
70.4 crank (mag, polish, balance, cross drill)
    Supertec head studs
New main, internal shaft, and rod bearings
2.7L oil pump modified for max flow
    New oil and fuel lines
    New timing chains and ramps
    Turbo chain tensioners w/chain savers
    Cam feed restrictors
    Reconditioned rods with new bolts/nuts
    Polished factory 911 S camshafts
    Complete engine balance
    Complete valve job w/manganese-bronze guides
    Surface heads
New stock valve springs and retainers
    36mm intake ports/35mm exhaust ports
    Cam feed lines
Rebuild ignition distributor with new Bosch plugs, wires, cap, etc.
Rebuilt Italian Weber carburetors (40IDA 3C1)
    New sport clutch
    Rebuilt alternator
    SSI stainless steel heat exchangers
    Amber fan shroud
    M&K sport muffler
915 transmission fully rebuilt to factory specifications
    Rebuilt axels

Elephant Racing supplied/installed all the suspension (Street Track 1 Kit) and oil cooling components:

Finned oil lines (run down passenger side of vehicle)
911 wide mouth Carrera oil cooler
Hollow front and rear sway bars with upgraded rear sway bar mounts
    Quick change spring plates
    New brake lines and hoses
Aluminum early-style Brembo front brakes and steel rears (from PMB Performance)
    Replaced wheel bearings
21mm front/27mm rear torsion bars (plated and plugged)
    Bilstein HD shocks/strut inserts
    Turbo tie rod kit
    Triangulated RSR-style front strut brace
    Rear monoballs sealed
Powder coated suspension parts (torsion bars/mounts, front cross member/pan, trailing arms)
Jae Lee of Mirage fine tuned the suspension (alignment and corner balance)

Autobahn restored the interior, which included:

    Correct German Haargarn carpet
    Restore door pockets
    Recover dash, door panels, kneepads
Restore steering wheel and glove box
Install leather GTS sport bucket seats with sliders

The body was stripped down to the bare metal. Although the body was straight, there was a bit more rust than the owner expected. So, the bad parts were cut away and welded in with new steel where needed. All new seals were installed and correct German Glasurit paint was used.

    Additional items include:

    15x7 factory Porsche Fuchs refurbished
Early factory-style chrome roof rack by Auto Foreign Services
Restored VDM steering wheel with hockey puck horn button
    Restored factory engine grill
    Hella rear 3rd brake light
Original factory (4) Cibie rally lights (not reproductions) with correct covers
    Custom Coco mats

Furthermore, the wiring harness and full electrical system was replaced with all new lights, switches, etc.

This Porsche comes with a large 3-ring binder full of build receipts, tool kit, spare tire/wheel, and jack.
