Thread: Shooting Brake Revival

    Shooting Brake Revival

Ferrari, Mercedes, Jaguar and now Porsche.

    http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dl...arams=Itemnr=4

US infatuation with SUV's has all but killed station wagon sales. In Europe "Estate Wagons" are still good sellers. MB makes the venerable E class. BMW has a wagon or two. Volvo is in the market as well.

As for design, Ferrari, Jaguar and MB have done a nice job. Tip of the hat to Ferrari and Jaguar.
As for the Panamera? IMHO, not so much. (Looks like a Dodge Magnum Wagon only not nearly as cool looking.)

FWIW, Mercedes offers a "shooting brake" in CLA and CLS class.

    But not here, yet.

I hope the future Panamera "Shooting Brake" will look as good as this show-car:

For me, a shooting brake should not have rear doors si only the Jaguar and Ferrari are real ones

Agreed. Your photo link is a lot better than the "mule" being tested.

    Thank you.

It's a shame, the wagon is a really good form factor for a car. I'd much prefer one over my current Cayenne, when I was done with my S6 avant there were not many good alternatives.

We can't even get the Passat wagon over here. Only the small Jetta.

I have had station wagons for a long time. Usually better storage space than an SUV. Easier to get into. Double (or more) the gas mileage and way more fun to drive. Long live the Avant or Estate or Wagon or whatever you want to call it.

I love shooting brakes and station wagons...the Panamera Gran Turismo concept is gorgeous, but I have my eye on the upcoming W213 E-class wagon (AKA S213):

I just hope it makes it to the US without being jacked up a couple of inches and a bunch of plastic cladding added to make it look like an SUV à la Volvo XC70 or Audi Allroad.
