OK,
Step one,
Mount the pumps 'L' bracket circular void over the corresponding 'round knob' on the side of the plastic tank - This is an interference fit and will take some force.
Step two,
The plastic tank's mount is in lower part of your photo, it's the raised flange with its tabs going in opposite directions... They correspond with the rib at the bottom of the tank.... it holds and locates the tank.....
Hope this helps,
Chuck

Thanks so much for your help, I didn't know the pump mounted on the tank.
This is my first 911
Here is how it looks installed.
If the tank is old and plastic hard you will need some pressure from inside the tank
To push the plastic into the hole on the pump bracket.
I fashioned a piece from 1/2 rod, make sure ends are rounded though so you
don't puncture the tank

When I apply pressure to the pump to secure it to the tank I hear cracking, I might need a new tank lol
Thanks for your help, I wish I had another car I could use as an example when trying to figure stuff out lol
Make life a little easier on yourself: fill tank with water and freeze it with the lid off to allow for expansion. Pump will snap right on w ice on backside.
Now that's clever.

I tried the freezing technique, it didn't work for me. I used a heat gun to warm up the area, carefully, and then popped the pump on.

If they are really stubborn I'll use a die grinder to 'slightly' enlarge the pump opening so it pops on easier.

After heating and freezing attempts, I did Ed's solution. Worked well. Not too much, just a trim.If they are really stubborn I'll use a die grinder to 'slightly' enlarge the pump opening so it pops on easier.
This might help if you are changing the tubing ....
