911 '65 Slate Grey - Interior trim opinion - Help

    Dear,

Now for the moment we are doing a restoration of a 911 1965 Slate Grey car.
Following the Porsche identification/kardex/CoA there is mentioned:

    Color: Slate Grey
    Interior triom: Black Leatherette

What are yours opinions about this combination?
Keeping it like this or changing the full interior to Red leatherette when doing our restoration?
Would this change have a big impact on the value of the car?
    Don't getting out of this.

If somebody have pictures of a 911 1965 or 66 of slate grey with black leatherette please posts, would be helpfull!

    Thanks a lot guys!

    Haul,

The car is in restoration now.
It just received a KTL coating.
The car has not been painted.
When we bought the car it was a FIA rally car in color orange.
The VIN number of the car is 303381.

You've got to do red with slate gray if you're considering non original options!

    John1180, thanks for your reply!
What do you mean by non stock options?
Red leatherette was standard just like black or not?
On the kardex is written black leatherette.
But wobdering to keep it original or not.
And if choosing for red what impact is on value

Nothing beats a red interiour, but as a '65 911, you or the new owner will have to explain endlessly that it's not original.
And I think you won't want that....

    Barwaut thanks for your reply!
    Nice car also!
Would this have a impact on value when changing to red interior when original is black?
Also don't know if slate grey with black interior was sometime rare to see.
I suppose that a lot of owners with slate grey change to red interior if not original? Or not?
Would be great to see pictures from a 65 car with slate grey and black interior.
Have already been looking a lot but didnt found anything.
I just cannot imagine this visual.

Mcampuzzano already gave me a link to a 1967 s car but this difference is big with a classic 65.

Well, a lot of thing are going on with slate grey.

For a lot of people the grey/red combo tops their list.
    Even grey alone is favourite.
Here in Holland I know on top of my head of seven cars which were reprayed in grey.
Some of them got a red interiour.

Grey/red attracts a lot of people and due to the copy cats now adays I get often the question whether it's the original color scheme or not.
Feels sometimes like the Speedster owners who almost have to proof their car is the real thing...
If you do the red interiour, you will get those questions as well.
And I everytime I would feel 'embaressed' that I had to tell that my gorgious slate grey early 911, actually was black inside...

Grey/black is the dreaded 'Steve McQueen' combo. A big appeal for some.

My view regarding your car is that it is a very early 911. A real classic....
People who want to invest such a sum of money want something 'original'.
Most of the time I think color changes don't effect the value that much, but regarding a very early 911 I am not so sure about that...

I think that Slate Grey with a Black interior is an excellent combination.
You can find many examples if you merely search "Porsche Slate Grey" on the internet...
