    Oil line repair

Rehosing one of these (911.107.722.00 - for cars without a front oil cooler) for a friends ´73, while the car is away for bodywork. Does anyone know, what the length of the hose part from fitting to fitting (marked with orange in this pic) is supposed to be?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, I could buy a new pipe. But the new ones are different. The design has been modified. And they are not cheap. Since it is an easy and normal fix, and the pipe is in fine condition, and since I would like to keep the original design, it makes more sense to me to restore the original part.

Take it to a local hydraulic hose & fitting shop. They can swedge on a new rubber line. Inexpensive too.

Plus -- the American hoses a far better than the European ones, which will eventually leak.

Scotts independent rebuilds these hoses with a factory swedge in So Cal. S

    Thomas,

Please include your general location for possible recommendations...

I have a GREAT hydraulic hose & fitting shop 2 miles from home........

Had this other hose done over 20 years ago... they did it the same day, I couldn't wait for it because they were too damn busy....

Does it look stock ?... no.... has it worked ? ... you'bet'cha...

The deal is if you supply your old hose w/fittings and factory hose they'll fix'ya up and it'll look stock...

Or, do a search here... there is a contributor that does this for a living....

    Cheers and good luck,

Thanks guys, there many local shops that do these press fittings. That is not a problem. I got some new good hose in the correct diameter, too.

All I wanted to know was the correct factory length of the rubber hose bit. Marked with orange in my reference pic above. Since the old hose on my pipe was badly cut up, I can´t tell from it.
