Re-chroming/plating of Turn Signal and Light Stalks Possible? (1967S)

I have a 67S undergoing a very comprehensive restoration. The turn signal and light stalks are in generally good shape but the chrome is a bit pitted and scratched. Is there a way to replate the stalks because it looks like there is no way to separate the pieces from the electrical contacts? My mechanic is a bit hesitant to try and take these apart. I know there are replacement plastic end pieces available though.

    Thoughts?

I've been on the same path and I was unable to find anyone currently restoring these. The one person who used to do them isn't taking on any more work.

I'd also be interested in a solution to this issue.

Joris Koning's mention on the 356 Registry Vendors Page says he does 356A turn signal switches and the knob unscrews from the stalk in a 356A. But, you can ask.

You also might want to contact Victor Miles--his contact information is also on the 356 Registry Vendors Page. The answer to the question, "Who can restore _____ piece of my Porsche?" (assuming were not talking engine, generator, etc.) is usually "Victor Miles." Victor does fabulous work but he's not cheap.

Thanks. Will contact Victor first since he's more local.

I was reorganizing some of my contact files and found http://www.type356a.com/blinkerswitch.html

You might want to check that, too. They handle switches up to 1970.

That's the individual I was referring to in my post. He's not accepting new orders.
