Thread: Is there anyone out there who can restore a leather steering wheel to "as new"?

Is there anyone out there who can restore a leather steering wheel to "as new"?

The wheel on my 70S has leather stitched directly over. It's the original wheel and I'd like to get it redone as it would have come from the factory, which I understand was machine stitched with a form of padding around wheel (felt?), rather than having it recovered but with the wrong stitching pattern (hand stitched?)Name: image.jpg

Are you kidding? Alan Gunn? don't send your wheel there.
Talk to Tony at Autobahn interiors. There is another guy in Dallas too.

+1 for Tony at Autobahn. Or Augustin at Autos international. Can't really go wrong with those.

...and an MPH speedo. Does that narrow it down to the UK?

Can someone please post a few photos of Autobahns work. I have yet to see a recovered wheel that looks original, usually the work at the four 'struts" is deficient, ie not as per the OEM installation. Thanks

I'm in Australia and the car is a 70S originally delivered in the UK.

I'd agree "I have yet to see a recovered wheel that looks original" and I just want to know whether someone can do that - otherwise I'll just muck around with a recovering kit myself.
