Solex 40PI carb set in SoCal

image.jpgimage.jpgThese carbs are in nice shape.

    Manifold casting numbers-
    901.108.311.03
    901.108.312.03

They have all the velocity stacks, and all the correct little fasteners holding them on.
All 6 short throttle rods are there. Unlike some that folks are getting $4500 with missing floats, fasteners etc.

These are complete. No missing pieces. No air filter but I do know someone with one. He wants a lot for it. He sold his carbs for $6500.00! Without the D washers on top!

    $6250.00
    Willing to part trade -
I am looking for a 911SC tub or roller.

Photos available by email or text from my iphone.
At some point I may figure out how to upload them from the phone.
If anyone wants to help me upload them, feel free to contact me.
Or maybe, a 12 year old can help me out!

    Cheers, Kurt

    Hi Frank,
I just got off the phone with Ed Mayo, who always has an answer for myself as well as many others here on this forum.
Yes, the bottoms are all nicely and uniformly welded. In fact they appear to be better welded than one would usually see coming out of the race shop at Porsche, in the day. It's Ed's opinion that some corrosion would have become visible before becoming a problem, and so were welded to add material in what was known to be an issue area. All of the mounting points are original and never have been broken or welded.
So, someone did an excellent job of preventing the issue of corrosion on those lower feet.

Looks to me like the head mounting flanges age been chopped off and aligned differently to suit a different engine. All the bolt holes look to be in a line where they should be almost perpendicular to the manifold??
Take another photo looking down on the manifold from the base to be sure.

    Regards
    Reuben

    You MUST be in sales!
Such a rosy picture painted! While the welded manifold may not be an issue mechanically it certainly is a negative cosmetically; which is what most people are concerned about with these cars.
